Edit pool settings after creation

Once a pool is live, you can still rename it, update its description, and change how picks work, without recreating the pool or losing existing entries.

Prerequisites

You need edit access to the pool's workspace (an admin or a member with edit permission). Open the pool from your dashboard and go to its editor page, then select the Settings tab.

Editable fields

Pool settings are organized into five tabs: Basic, Access, Predictions, Branding, and Premium.

Basic

To rename a pool or change its description:

  1. Open the pool and go to Settings > Basic.
  2. Update the pool name in the name field.
  3. Edit the description using the rich text editor. Formatting is preserved but the field is capped, so keep descriptions reasonably short.
  4. Save your changes.

Renaming a pool doesn't affect anyone's existing predictions, scores, or standings. It only changes the label participants see.

Rule changes

Some rules can be changed after creation, others can't, depending on how the tournament admin configured the underlying event.

Prediction mode. You can switch a pool between round-by-round picking and full-bracket-upfront picking at any time from Settings.

Prediction type (winner-only, score, or both). This can be changed too, unless the tournament admin has locked the prediction type at the tournament level. If it's locked, your change to this field is silently ignored, so if you don't see it take effect, check with whoever set up the tournament.

Survivor rules, for pools running a survivor format:

  • Pick window: choose between week-by-week picking and any-week picking. Switching to week-by-week has a side effect worth knowing about: any picks players had already banked for weeks beyond the current one are cleared automatically. This is intentional. Once week-by-week is on, players can't submit a pick for a future week ahead of time, so leaving those banked picks in place would lock some players into teams nobody else could still match, with no way for them to change it.
  • Tiebreaker: set to none or to margin-based tiebreaking.
  • Does a tie count as a survive or an out: by default a tie counts as elimination (you had to win to advance). You can flip this so ties let a player survive instead.
  • Lives: how many losses a player can absorb before elimination. This must stay between 1 and 5. If you try to lower the number of lives below what a player currently still in the pool has already used, the save is rejected with an explanation, since that would leave them "alive" with a negative life balance that nothing would ever reconcile. Raise the cap, or wait until that player is eliminated, then lower it.

Changes to survivor rules apply going forward. They don't retroactively rescore weeks that have already resolved.
