How to Make Survivor Pool Picks

Once you've joined a survivor pool, you make one pick a week: a single team you think will win. This article covers how to submit that pick, why you can't reuse a team, and where to check whether you're still alive.

Picking a team

Open the pool and go to the picker for the current week. Each matchup shows both teams with their logo, opponent, and kickoff time.

To make your pick:

  1. Find the team you want to back and select it.
  2. Your choice is saved right away and shows a checkmark, with a confirmation that your pick is locked in.
  3. To change your mind before the game locks, select a different team, or select your current pick again to clear it.

A few things shape what you can pick:

  • One team per week. You're picking a straight-up winner, not a score or a margin.
  • No repeats. Once you've used a team, it stays visible in the list but greyed out and marked "Used wk [X]" so you can see it, but you can't select it again for the rest of the season. Budgeting your strong teams across the season is the whole point of the format.
  • Picks lock. Depending on how the pool is set up, either each team locks at its own kickoff, or the entire week locks at once when the week opens. The picker tells you which rule applies and when the deadline is.
  • Future weeks are viewable, not pickable. If you look ahead to a week that hasn't opened yet, you'll see the fixtures so you can scout matchups, but nothing is selectable until that week is live.
  • No pick for you. If your pool has auto-pick turned on and you haven't chosen by the deadline, an option is submitted for you at random from the teams you haven't used yet that are still in an open game. If auto-pick is off, missing a pick eliminates you the same as a wrong pick.
  • If you'd rather not decide, some pools show a Pick for me option that draws at random from your still-available teams. It only appears if you haven't already made a pick for the week.

Elimination

The top of the picker always shows your status first: Still alive or Out in week [X], along with how many players in the pool are alive and how many are out.

If your pool allows more than one loss before elimination, you'll also see how many of those lives you have left.

Below that, you'll see how many teams you've used so far, and, once the current week is open, how many teams you still have available to pick from.

If your team loses, that pick is marked Lost. If the game ends in a tie, it's marked either Tie or Tie = out, depending on whether your pool counts a tie as a loss. A loss (or a fatal tie) ends your run: your status switches to Out, showing the week you were eliminated, and you can no longer make picks, though you can still watch the remaining weeks play out.
